Well, that was fast. Summer is over. Winter is coming.
I know, I know - the heat continues and there aren't really any seasons in the Bay Area - but Ava starts kindergarten next week and so in my mind, it's basically fall.
I mean, Ava is already planning out her Halloween costume (she wants to be Ahsoka Tano), and talking about Christmas plans. . .
As if life wasn't moving fast enough!

This month, we'll be talking about what to expect from the real estate market; what to do with the last big batch of strawberries you bought (or will buy); why my dogs don't work harder in the office, and what to do when you ruin your wife's absolute FAVORITE set of clothes.
(TL;DR: You buy a new set.)

We are continuing to see balance in the real estate market - and this will likely continue through the fall.
We are also seeing a rise in realtor-bathroom-selfies at open houses, and this has to stop.

While bathroom selfies may be bad, balance in the market is a good thing OVERALL. But may not feel great at the individual level. This is partly because while we are seeing an overall reduction in bids over list price, and more days on market, some homes are still moving fast, with multiple offers, and over list price. As a buyer it can be hard to know when you need to be aggressive with your offer, or when you may be unnecessarily overbidding.
As a seller, this uncertainty can also be tough. There can feel like there is no pattern or reason to why some homes sit on the market, and others don't. The truth is, that there are a lot of variables that can impact how long a home is on the market before it sells, and not all of them bad.
So, if you, or someone you know, is thinking of buying or selling a home, what do you do? How do you navigate these challenges in an ever changing marketplace?
Well, a good place to start would be the Buyer and Homeowner seminars I am hosting!
Note - the Buyer seminar has been rescheduled to September 6th, and the Homeowner session is set for September 27th! If you have already signed up, you should be receiving an email soon with more info!
If you haven't signed up - don't wait any longer!

Ok. This is technically called a Strawberry Summer Cake.
If you're like me and panic buy extra strawberries at the farmer's market in August (or always) because you are worried you'll never be able to buy strawberries again, and you have several pounds in your fridge right now, and don't know what to do. . .

Then this is what you do.

You head over to Smitten Kitchen, you gather/buy/steal the ingredients you need, and make this cake.
Don't worry that looks like a pie.
Or that its fall. Just go with it.

We have (almost) survived our first summer of summer camps - and we learned a lot! Not just about navigating this whole process, but about our girl, and about being parents.
Honestly, she has done much better than her parents at adapting to the constant change from week to week.

It has been amazing to see her personality just explode as she discovers her own unique passions. From Star Wars, to Ghost Spider and She-Hulk, to Legos, to painting and art!
This a oil pastel drawing that she did. The left side is a printout, and the right side is her drawing. She said it was easy because "she was just copying what she saw . . .

I recently learned that my Compass office is a dog friendly environment and Whiskey and Soba have been alternating days at work.
Soba is basically an introvert at the office. She understands that this is a work environment, and treats staying in the down position as her literal job and won't move for hours.

Whiskey, on the other hand, is essentially an extroverted introvert. He spends the first 30 minutes trying to socialize with everyone, and then he gets tired and wants to go home.
Neither of them do actual work. It's a little disappointing.
